Clerk of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr.
Olatunji Taiwo, said the House had become a flourishing research and
civic centre.
He said different categories of people, including politicians, researchers and students of tertiary institutions visited the assembly on daily basis to learn about politics, effective legislation and true representation.
Taiwo said this at the proclamation and inauguration ceremony of the seventh session of the assembly recently.
He said, “Indeed, several states’ houses of assembly in the federation have inundated the Lagos State House of Assembly with requests for our laws which some even promulgated almost verbatim”.
Taiwo said the House members in the immediate past received World Bank certification arising from the recognition accorded to the Lagos State House of Assembly over its deliberations on the Lagos State Public Procurement Bill.
He noted that the House was specially invited because of the richness of the proposed law when compared with some type of bills from 18 other states in the federation.
He, however, disclosed that the World Bank intended to use the Lagos State Public Procurement law as enacted as model for other states to copy.
