A leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria in
Lagos State, Chief Ayo Akande, on Sunday, said the party’s elected
governors and parliamentarians in the April elections would post good
performance capable of recommending the ACN for the presidency in 2015.
Akande said in a statement that the ACN would do everything to justify its electoral victory in the South-West geo-political zone during the April elections.
The party won the governorship race in Oyo and Ogun states, in addition to Lagos, Osun, Ekiti and Edo states under its control. It also won the majority parliamentary seats in the affected states, thus making it the dominant party in the zone.
Akande, however, said the 2011 electoral success of the party in the South-West was made possible by the political leadership of former governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the ACN, Bola Tinubu.
Akande described Tinubu as an important political pillar in the country.
“Tinubu will remain an unequalled leader in the political history of Nigeria,” he said.
The ACN stalwart posited that the former governor’s political achievements had gone beyond the “traditional political zone of the Yoruba.”
According to him, others before Tinubu had the same opportunity and worked hard but could not rival his commitment to “make a political in-road beyond the shores of the South-West.”
