Mark in early lead in Benue South
Reports from Markudi, Benue State, on Saturday indicated that the Peoples Democratic Party was in an early lead in the two senatorial districts where elections took place.
Senate President, David Mark, was leading General Lawrence Onoja, [retd], of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Benue South, while there were indications that Barnabas Gemade of the PDP was also leading ACN candidate and the incumbent in the Senate, Senator Joseph Akaagerger, in Benue North East Senatorial District.
But Akaagerger told journalists that PDP was rigging the election. He complained of involvement of thugs in electoral activities and threatened to go to court if INEC failed to intervene.
However, Gemade said that election was peaceful, adding that he was optimistic that he would win.
