The continued retention of Iheanacho as Minister , President Jonathan said , is not in the best interest of the nation
A statement issued in Abuja by the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ima Niboro, said Iheanacho has been replaced by the Minister of Labour, Mr. Emeka Nwogu who still oversees his own ministry.
Niboro cited political lapses traceable to Iheanachor in his personal and official conducts and therefore directed him to hand over to the Permanent Secretary in the Internal Affairs Ministry.
According to the statement "President Jonathan has ordered the immediate suspension of Capt. Emmenuel Iheanacho as Minister of Interior and member of the Federal Executive Council.Capt. Iheanacho has been directed to hand over to the Minister of Labour, Mr. Emeka Wogu, who will, in addition to his present portofolio, oversee that ministry.
"Capt. Iheanacho’s suspension comes as a result of a number of lapses in the political leadership of the ministry traceable to his personal and official conduct. For now, his continued manning of the ministry is not in the interest of the nation", the statement added.
