The Lagos State governorship seat is still open to any party to clinch, considering its cosmopolitan nature.
The governorship candidate of the African Liberation Party, Mrs. Omolara Alakija, said this in an interview with SATURDAY PUNCH.
She said that being a woman notwithstanding, she stood a chance like every other candidate vying for the seat.
Alakija said that the choice of who would govern Lagos State rested with the voters, who would make that decision at the poll on Tuesday.
She said, “The orientation of the people has changed all over the world and I believe that Lagos is not an exception.
“We’ve seen Hillary Clinton, Condolezza Rice; in Nigeria, we have seen a woman emerging as Speaker of the House of Representatives; as governor; as deputy governors and ministers.
“So, I see my agenda garnering support as opposed to getting opposition.”
She said that the message of the ALP promoted change and hoped to make life better for residents of Lagos State.
She said that the government should not see the provision of social amenities as doing the people a favour, especially when they paid huge taxes.
Asked why she did not participate in any of the governorship debates, she said that she was not invited.
