Aformer chairman of Ijero Local Government in
Ekiti State, Mr. Bode Agbeleye, and hundreds of his supporters in the
Peoples Democratic Party, have defected to the ruling Action Congress of
Nigeria ahead of the National Assembly and state house of assembly
elections scheduled for April 26.
The ex-council boss said in Ipoti that his decision to defect from the PDP was borne out of the change the ruling ACN had brought to the state within six months that Governor Kayode Fayemi assumed office.
He said, “A thorough assessment of our political situation calls for caution. Ekiti State needs to be in the midst of the progressives with clear thought, intellect and passion that could place the state in a vantage position in the comity of states.
“As of today, only the ACN can be described as the party with the defined ideology and progressive thinking that can help the state out of the woods.
“We have tasted the PDP and the end result was not palatable. Today, we are under the ACN, which is just under six months and things are now heading towards a developmental destination.
“With this, we have no option than to join the ACN train to make our dear state great.”
