A very enthusiastic crowd of appreciative residents of
Lagos on Tuesday trooped out in large numbers to acknowledge and cheer
the State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola( SAN) as he embarked on a road
walk campaign from his Marina official residence to his Alausa office.
Governor Fashola who drove in an open roof jeep in a motorcade waved to excited Lagos residents who lined up the routes from Marina through Tinubu Square to Eko Bridge, passing through Iddo and Otto and down to Oyingbo, Adekunle, Alagomeji, Ikorodu road to Alausa.
The Governor while responding to questions from newsmen after the walk through campaign on why he is embarking on the innovative campaign strategy when all indications are clear that he would win the Governorship election, said: "This is our territory; we are canvassing and energizing our people. We are canvassing for votes. This is a democracy. It is a people�s government. We are galvanizing all the support that is unequivocally behind us".
He explained that in a week's time, the administration will overcome all its adversaries and record overwhelming success at the polls once the signature which is the vote of the people for the AC.N is appended.
Governor Fashola urged the people to come out en masse on Tuesday April 26 to sign on to the continuity of a transformation that has started in Lagos State adding that the last 12 years have been that of tremendous success of governance in Lagos State.
"We want the people to sign on to the continuity of the BRT system, light rail, water supply, good security, free education, better opportunities, Agric Yes programme and all life changing programmes which must continue", he emphasized.
The Governor also informed that the rescheduled National Assembly elections in Ifako Ijaiye, Shomolu and Ikorodu federal constituencies will be conducted on the same Tuesday, April 26 like the Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
Among those who accompanied the Governor on the road walk campaign were the House of Representatives members elect for Lagos Island Constituency one and two, Hon Jumoke Okoya-Thomas and Hon Yakub Abiodun Balogun respectively.
