Oyo people ready for change – Ajimobi

The governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has described the results of the National Assembly election in the state as an evidence of the people’s readiness for a change. The ACN won two out of the available three senatorial seats in the state while the ruling Peoples Democratic Party won one. While PDP won five federal constituencies, the ACN and the Accord Party won four constituencies each. In a statement by his campaign organisation’s Director of Publicity, Mr. Yanju Adegbite, on Monday, Ajimobi thanked the people of the state for shunning the huge cash allegedly offered them by some political parties but voted ACN candidates in the election. He said that more than ever before, he believed in the potency of the people’s power and the resolve of people to free themselves from what he called “slavery.” According to him, the victory recorded by the ACN in the Saturday poll, “in spite of the gang-ups, free flow of illicit cash to hoodwink the people and campaigns of calumny” was a clear indication that the people were ready for change. “The massive turn-out of the electorate last Saturday has demonstrated the resolve of the good people of Oyo State to effect necessary changes in the affairs of government. The election results at the polls in the state have also clearly demonstrated the determination of the people to do away with the PDP in the elections,” the statement said. The ACN candidate also commended traditional rulers in the state for calling on their people to troop out to exercise their civic rights. By Olalekan Adetayo Courtesy Of: Punch
