Hopes of a pact between the Action Congress of Nigeria and the Congress for Progressive Change for Saturday‘s presidential election collapsed on Wednesday as the ACN said it was not keen on it.
The ACN National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, said at a press conference in Abuja that the talks had failed to lead to an alliance.
He did not, however, give reasons for the development.
There had been expectations that the ACN presidential candidate, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, would step down for the CPC candidate, Maj.-Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (retd.).
Akande stated that there might be the possibility of an alliance should the election fail to produce a clear winner.
