‘Opposition against ACN possible’

Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Mega Party in Lagos, Bashorun J. K Randle, on Wednesday hinted of the possibility of a coalition of opposition forces against the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria in Lagos State before the governorship election. Randle said at a press conference in Lagos that talks for such coalition was ongoing, adding that it would take proper shape after the presidential election on Saturday. “Such talks are going on but we have decided to leave matters until after the presidential election. We are talking”, he said. He said ethnic, professional and political groups who were still not members of the coalition were free to join as long as they shared the SDMP vision of rescuing Lagos through change in leadership “Whoever we can strike strategic alliance with will be welcomed aboard, either as a political party or an ethnic group or a professional group as long as they are willing to share our vision of rescuing Lagos,” Randle said. Justifying the need for a change in leadership in Lagos, Randle said there was so much poverty in Lagos, adding that in places like Makoko, Badia and Ajegunle, Lagosians are living as if it was the 15th century.
