Voting takes place in Ikorodu

Voters turned out in all polling units in Ikorodu, Lagos State, contrary to Thursday’s announcement by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, that polling would not take place there. Jega had listed Ikorodu as one of the 48 federal constituencies were the election would not hold. The announcement led to a low turnout of voters. Accreditation started early in most areas of Ikorodu as INEC officials had arrived at the polling units as early as 8am. It ended at noon and voting began. The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, was the first to vote in her constituency on Ayangburen Road. By Our Correspondent Courtesy Of: Punch
