The National Assembly election in Lagos West Senatorial District on Saturday, was a contest between the Action Congress of Nigeria and the Peoples Democratic Party. Although the ACN took the lead in many wards in the district, it was followed by the PDP, which also put up a good showing.
As at the time of going to press, the total number of votes cast in the district for each of the nine political parties was yet to be announced, but our correspondents learnt that in five of the 10 wards including Ikeja Federal Constituency, the ACN was leading.
According to the results announced at the collation centre, of the 3, 181 votes cast at Ward 09 (Ikeja GRA/Police Barracks), the ACN scored 1,844, while the PDP scored 844.
Other parties like the Congress for Progressive Change and the All Nigeria Peoples Party scored 255 and 15 respectively for the House of Representatives election.
In the senatorial election for the same ward, the ACN scored 1,787, while the PDP scored 800 votes. The Labour Party and the CPC, however, had 74 and 237 votes respectively.
