Oshiomhole, on Monday expressed shock and sadness over the sudden death
of Mrs. Mimi Katsina-Alu, the wife of the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
The CJN’s wife passed on on Saturday after a tree fell on her in the Katsina-Alu family home in Alu, Benue State.
In a condolence letter he wrote on behalf of his family, the government and people of Nigeria, Jonathan expressed his heartfelt condolences to Katsina-Alu and members of his family.
Parts of the letter read, “The suddenness and manner of her passing must understandably be a source of great grief to you.
“You should however find solace in the fact that she lived a richly-fulfilled Christian life of consummate dedication and service to God and community.
“I am also aware that she was a quintessential wife and partner, providing the needed support for you in the discharge of your onerous responsibilities as our nation’s number one judicial officer.
The condolence message of the President’s wife was contained in a statement by her special Assistant on Media, Dr. Isiaka Aliagan, on Monday. Mrs. Jonathan expressed deep shock at the death of Victoria, praying God to grant the bereaved CJN the fortitude to bear the loss.
Oshiomhole, who described the late Mrs Katsina-Alu as a devout Christian wife and devoted mother, said her death was a painful loss to bear.
In a condolence letter to the CJN, was quoted to have said, “We share Your Lordship’s grief and the pains of the Katsina-Alu family at this very trying moment of the loss of a beloved wife and mother. Much as Mrs. Katsina-Alu’s loss is painful to bear, we urge you to take heart and trust that her faithful Lord cannot be wrong in His judgment on how long she sojourned on earth. In a statement on Monday by Mark’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Paul Mumeh, the Senate President said he sympathised with the government and people of Benue State over the unfortunate incident.
