Senator Abiola Ajimobi |
Part of the term of reference of the committee which was inaugurated in Ibadan, the state capital, is to ascertain the financial status of the state government.
The committee is also expected to take inventory of all movable and non-movable (non-financial) assets of the state ahead of the May 29 inauguration date of the governor-elect.
It is expected to look at government activities since May 29, 2007 when the incumbent Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of the Peoples Democratic Party took over.
The committee which is headed by a former Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Busari Adebisi, has retired permanent secretaries, directors and parliamentarians as members.
Ajimobi while inaugurating the committee asked its members to take the stock in five major government activities’ areas so as to assist his government in bringing about the needed change.
The five areas, according to him, are: the financial status of Oyo State, inventory of all movable and non-movable (non-financial) assets of the state and administrative details about structure and cost of operations of the state.
Other areas are the status of all on-going projects in the state and any other information germane to ascertaining the actual state of affairs of the state.
He described the members of the committee as men of track records, good standing in the society whose antecedents are unblemished and possess the needed experience as professionals to fast track the needed development that the people of the state desire.
Adebisi on behalf of other committee members assured the governor-elect and the Action Congress of Nigeria in the state that they would leave up to their billing and complement Ajimobi’s untiring efforts at liberating the people of the state and redeem the lost glory of the Pace-Setter State.
The sectors of the state that the committee members are expected to concentrate on are Economic (Finance, Commerce and Cooperatives, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Land and Housing and Industry, Applied Science and Technology), Social (Education, Health, Works and Transport, Environment and Water resources, Women affairs, Community Development and Social Welfare).
Other are General Administration 1 (Justice, information, culture and tourism, local government and chieftaincy affairs, water corporation, BCOS and civil service commission) and General Administration 2 (Establishment, training and poverty alleviation, youth and sports, special duties, rural electrification board, housing corporation and Local Government commission).
