Asian Football Chief Mohamed Bin Hammam has confirmed he will challenge 75-year-old Sepp Blatter for the FIFA Presidency in June.
Bin Hammam, the President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), said he decided to stand against Blatter, who has been football's world governing body president for 13 years, after "careful study".
The 61-year-old Qatari's stunning success in securing the 2022 World Cup for Qatar provided a stimulus for him to consider football governing body top post at the upcoming elections in june 1.
The Qatari who was sworn in unopposed for a third and final four-year term as AFC head in January, is hoping to become the ninth president of FIFA and the first from Asia.
