Ahead of the inauguration of Senator Abiola
Ajimobi as the next governor of Oyo State, the leader of the Action
Congress of Nigeria in the state, Alhaji Lam Adesina, has said there
will not be room for stealing from government coffers during the next
administration in the state.
He said all the people-oriented programmes being planned by the party and the governor-elect would stretch the state’s Federal Allocation and the Internally Generated Revenue to the limit, in such a way that nothing would be left to be stolen by the people in government.
Adesina, a former governor of the state, disclosed these to journalists in his Ibadan residence on Sunday.
He assured the people of the state that Ajimobi will not engage in corrupt practices because of his antecedents as a person of unblemished character both in private and public life.
He added that the cardinal programmes of the party which included free qualitative education, health care services, employment opportunities, rural integration, sound economic development, human capital development, infrastructural development among others which must be kept to the letter, were too enormous for the governor to engage in illegal and shady deals.
Adesina said Ajimobi would bring his wealth of experience to bear in administering the state to bring back security of lives and property, accountability, integrity, result-oriented and purposeful government that would be the envy of other states in the country.
He also advised President Goodluck Jonathan, as he takes the oath of office for the second time on Sunday, to fix the problem of epileptic power supply within the next one year.
