Ogun State Governor- elect, Senator Ibikunle
Amosun, has appointed the former Vice-Chancellor of Crescent University
Abeokuta, Prof. Sheriffdeen Tella, as head of Education Committee
constituted to facilitate the education development of the state.
Tella, who was also a former lecturer of the Ogun State-owned Olabisi Onabanjo University, lost his job as vice chancellor and lecturer of the state-owned university over his criticisms of the current state administration’s plan to obtain a controversial N100bn bond.
While Tella is to head the Education Committee, Prof. Lawon Odusoga and Prof. Bola Okuneye will lead the Health and Agricultural, Rural Development and Industrialisation committees respectively, among the six committees inaugurated by Amosun in Abeokuta on Monday.
Apart from the six policy committees, the governor-elect also inaugurated 25 work groups to develop a realistic policy document that will drive the developmental programmes of the Action Congress of Nigeria for the state.
He inaugurated the committees in Abeokuta, the state capital, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission issued him and other elected candidates from the state with their respective certificates of return.
INEC National Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Kaugama, who presented the certificates of return, said the exercise was to complete the provisions of the law for all the successful candidates during the April 2011 general elections.
At the event were former Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Mr. Tunji Egbetokun, Senator-elect for Ogun Central Senatorial District, Mr. Gbenga Obadara, state ACN Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Bello, and returning House of Representatives members, Abiodun Akinlade and Razaq Adewusi, among others.
