Obada’s emergence as minister, lesson to politicians – Oyedokun

The emergence of a former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Mrs. Olusola Obada, as Minister of State for Defence, has been described as a big lesson to all politicians.
A former Deputy National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, stated this in Ilesa, on Sunday, when the Ijesa elders caucus of the party organised a reception for Obada.
Oyedokun, who is a member, PDP Board of Trustees, explained that humility, dedication, honesty and loyalty were virtues that fetched Obada the appointment.
According to Oyedokun, Obada “humbled the men, who contested the ministerial appointment with her” with her virtues.
The immediate past Governor of Osun, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, were all in the ministerial race.
Oyinlola, who was absent at the reception, was represented by his younger brother, Toye, while Omisore and Adeleke had some of their supporters present on the occasion.
Oyedokun enjoined old politicians in the party to leave the stage while the ovation was loudest, stressing that it was high time young politicians took over from the old brigade.
He said, “Obada’s appointment was a reward of hard work, humility, dedication, honesty and loyalty. She humbled all the men, who contested the post with her.
“We must all support Obada because her appointment represents the transformational agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.”
Speaking at the occasion, another member BoT of PDP, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, enjoined members of the party not to defect to the Action Congress of Nigeria.
