Campaign Violence:10 People Die in Five States

About nine people have been killed in political violence in five states. In Jos, the Plateau state capital, a stampede at the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) rally left three people dead at Enugu Street, while another corpse was found near the Bingham University Teaching Hospital. In Anambra state, Nigeria�s south-east region, a clash between traders in Onitsha and Awka in campaign rallies of Chief Chris Ngige and Senator Annie Okonkwo, left two people dead. Elsewhere in Edo state, Nigerias south-south region, the Senator representing Edo South in the Senate, Ehigie Uzamere, narrowly escaped death, but his police orderly and one other person were shot dead by gunmen. In Kebbi state, Nigerias north-west region, attacked the former governor of the state, Alhaji Adamu Aliero, and the CPC governorship candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Malam, who were on their way to Dakingari, the hometown of governor Sa�idu Dakingari, to campaign. In the attack, one person was killed, eight vehicles including two suvs were burnt and two houses were set ablaze by the thugs. Benue state, Nigeria�s north-central region was not spared as one person was killed and properties destroyed.
