The Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the
Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Dayo Soremi, has refuted media reports
describing his predecessor, Chief Joju Fadairo, as state chairman of the
party.
Soremi spoke against the backdrop of the “purported inauguration of Ogun PDP Vanguard” by Fadairo in Abeokuta at the weekend.
In a statement on Sunday, Soremi said it would be contemptuous of a valid court order and judgment which said, “Fadairo was never the chairman of the Ogun State PDP.
“In fact, a Federal High Court in Lagos on August 21, 2010 restrained Fadairo and his co-travellers from parading themselves as members of the State Executive Council of the party.
“It was based on this and other facts placed before a Federal High Court in Abuja that the court on Thursday, March 3, 2011, nullified the primaries that were supervised by Fadairo and affirmed the Soremi-led exco as the authentic leadership of the party ahead of the April 2011 general elections.
“The authentic State Executive Committee is not aware of any ‘Ogun PDP Vanguard’. It is alien to our constitution and party structure.”
Soremi urged party members to disregard “the illegal body as it is not known to the party’s leadership and its various structures.”
