ACN tackles Alao-Akala over anti-Ajimobi comments

The Oyo State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has criticised what it called ceaseless media attacks former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala against his successor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, and the new administration in the state.
The party’s position was contained in a statement made available to our correspondent in Ibadan, the state capital, on Monday by the state Secretary, Mr. Wasiu Olatubosun.
Olatubosun was reacting to an opinion article published in a national newspaper (not THE PUNCH) on Sunday by the spokesman of the former governor, Mr. Dotun Oyelade.
He said, “The ACN finds it worrisome that some people after losing a popular election would be hell-bent on making the state ungovernable by sponsoring chaos among residents as well as continuing with media attacks against the person of the governor.
“Oyelade had, by his article, re-emphasised the vicious intent of the Alao-Akala group to frustrate the present administration in all fronts simply because Ajimobi and the ACN rose to the challenge of ending bad governance in the pacesetter state as supported by the electorate who voted the PDP government out of power.
“It is time Alao-Akala and his acolytes changed their way by appealing to the people of the state for forgiveness having wasted their enormous resources in the last couple of years.
“It is even disturbing to note that Alao-Akala keeps telling the public that he managed properly the financial resources of the state while in government while it was indeed the many cases of wasteful spending and official recklessness that turned the people against him even before he was forced on them in 2007.
“In a matter of days, the world would be made to see the clear picture of immeasurable cases of official corruption which his government engaged in while it would be revealed to the world how he wasted about N400bn in just four years.”
