LP chairman’s resignation

Ondo State chapter of the Labour Party on Sunday said the resignation of its erstwhile chairman, Dr. Olaiya Oni, would not affect the party.
The Public Relations Officer of the party in the state, Mr. Femi Okunjemiruwa, in an interview with journalists in Akure said, “We are still studying the situation. We will react at the appropriate time. It is not a serious issue”
Oni had in his letter of resignation questioned Governor Olusegun Mimiko for taking some unilateral decisions without consulting the party’s secretariat.
He also accused the governor of underfunding the secretariat, a development, he said, gave him sleepless nights.
In the letter dated June 30, 2011, Oni said he was quitting because of his strained relationship with Mimiko.
The governor, he alleged, demonstrated arrogance and non-challance in the running of the party.
Oni added that Mimiko was self-seeking and ready to sacrifice any relationship for personal interests.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, said the letter of resignation was yet to be received by the governor.
