Court dismisses Igbinedion’s application to quash property seizure order
The Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday dismissed an application by former Edo State Governor, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, to set aside an order seizing 11 properties linked to him.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had on February 8 secured the order after it accused the governor of a N3.2bn fraud. The properties are in Benin, Lagos, Abuja and London.
Justice Mohammed Idris on Friday ruled that Section 13 of the Federal High Court Act gave the court the power to grant temporary injunctions to freeze assets suspected to have been acquired through fraud.
